It's that time of year - BREAKUP! During breakup the trail surfaces at Birch Hill are very, very soft. Any form of trail use - walking, running, mountain biking, etc. -

The Fairbanks 2014 Arctic Winter Games Host Society would like to invite the Nordic ski community to their Community Event to celebrate the Arctic Winter Games Torch coming to Fairbanks.

NSCF will be maintaining their section of Birch Hill Road according to the requirements of the Adopt a Highway Program in May.

The new Pisten Bully has allowed us to extend the ski season well into April with arguably the best conditions ever seen at Birch Hill.  (Rumors are swirling that there is even a run on klister at the local skis shops!)  It takes about 1 gallon of diesel fuel for each kilometer the Pisten Bully grooms, and we all know what fuel costs these days...

Your donations are greatly appreciated and make it easier to groom those trails that are farther afield!

Application and scholarship forms for 2012-3 programs – including year-round and summer Comp Team programs, and our Prep/Devo summer program – are now online on the NSCF website.  www.nscfairbanks.org Click on ‘downloads’ and ‘forms’ then order by ‘date’ and they should be among the first items visible.  Waivers and online registration will be updated and available within the next few weeks.  Information about our programs has been updated under the 'FXC' tab on the main menu.

After receiving this beautiful fresh new snow over the last day or so, remember that means that our wonderful NSCF Groomers will be out on the trails hard at work keeping them in PERFECT condition for you.  If you haven’t done so yet this year - Don’t forget to donate to our Trail Grooming Fund.  Bottom Line = Great Grooming Costs Money!!!!

Your donations make it possible to continue to provide the high quality trails we have all become accustomed to.

Tyson Flaharty, skiing in classic technique, was the overall winner Sunday afternoon in the third and final race in the Thirteenth Annual Buetow Dental Distance Series presented by Raven Cross Country.
