It will soon be mud season at Birch Hill, once the snow is gone please avoid using the trails until they have a chance to dry out.

This seasons first day of grooming was Nov. 5, last real day was April 11th.  Have a great summer. See you next fall.

We are waiting patiently for snow and when it comes our hardworking NSCF Groomers will be out on the trails making those few inches = PERFECTLY groomed trails.  If you haven’t done so yet this year - Don’t forget to donate to our Trail Grooming Fund.  Bottom Line = Great Grooming Costs Money!!!!

The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks raises funds to pay the costs (estimated at over $40,000/year) of grooming, trail construction  and year-round trail maintenance  at the Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails (40Km of Groomed Trails) at Birch Hill Recreation Area. Your donations make it possible to continue to provide the high quality trails we have all become accustomed to.

Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks members take pride in the beautifully groomed Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails at the Birch Hill Recreation area. Over 30 kilometers of ski trails are avaialble with over 8 kilometers of lighted loops. The Jim Whisenhant Trails are the primary venue for events hosted by the club. The Birch Hill Recreation Area is open to the public free of charge. Maintenance of this incredible trail system is supported by the Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks and Recreation Department and the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks. Club members donations to the NSCF Trail Grooming Fund play a major role in allowing us to enjoy such outstanding ski trails. If you enjoy these trails and are not a member, please considering joining the NSCF and contributing to the Trail Grooming Fund.
