Hanneman Wins Quarterfinal, Boyer Fails to Advance

Logan Hanneman won his quarterfinal to advance to the semifinal round of the heats. Hannah Boyer finished fifrth in her heat and failed to advance. Hanneman was the only US skier, male or female, to make it out of the quarterfinals.

Fairbanks skiers Logan Hanneman and Hannah Boyer have qualified for the heats in the Scandinavian Cup competition in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. Both are among the 12 skiers selected at the USSA National Championships in Rumford, Maine, in early January to represent the USA at these races. NSCF FXC Head Coach Pete Leonard is in "O'vik" on the US Ski Team coaching staff as assistant coach and head wax technician. Skiers from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and the USA compete in these events.

Flaharty and Lewis Best In Skiathlon

Tyson Flaharty - TRS4 Tyson Flaharty and Melissa Lewis were the winners in the final event in the 15th Annual Flint Hills Resources Town Race Series, the Kendall Subaru of Fairbanks Skiathlon. Flaharty led from the start and just skied away from the competition during the skate leg; Lewis was the third skier to enter the transition zone after the classic leg, but she quickly overtook both Eliza Rorabaugh and Megan Edic and finished 22 seconds clear.

Boyer, Flaharty Top Flint Hills Woolly Rhino Classic

Hannah Boyer (West Valley/FXC) and Tyson Flaharty (Goldstream Sports/NSCF) dominated the competition in the third race in the 15th Annual Flint Hills Town Race Series, the Woolly Rhino Classic. Boyer was 80 seconds faster than the runner-up, her coach ,Davya Flaharty; Tyson was 1:36 ahead of second place Logan Hanneman (Lathrop HS/FAST).
