20th Annual Buetow Dental-Pangaea Health Distance Series Kicks Off Saturday,
December 8!
The first race in the 20th Annual Buetow Dental-Pangaea Health Distance
Series, organized by the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks is scheduled for
Saturday, December 8. The 15Km mass-start, free technique event, starts
at 11:00AM in the Birch Hill Ski Stadium at the Birch Hill Recreation Area.
A 7.5Km race is available for those wishing to race less than 15Km. The
Buetow Dental-Pangaea Health distance series is a great way to prepare for
the annual Sonot Kkaazoot.
Saturday’s race is the Gundeloppet, named in honor of Gunde Svan who won the
1984 FIS Men’s World Cup race in Fairbanks on a course very similar to the
one that will be raced on Saturday. All race registration is online. You
can register at https://register.chronotrack.com/r/35233.
Standard entry fees are $15 for NSCF members, and $20 for non-members
through midnight Thursday night. Race day entries will be accepted between
9:45AM and 10:45AM but will be $5 higher than the early entry fee. Proceeds
over and above expenses from the race go toward supporting the Lathrop High
School Ski Team.
The second race in the three-race series, a mass-start, classic technique 20Km
with a 10Km option, is scheduled for Saturday, January 19. The final race in
the series is a 30Km free technique mass start with a 10Km option, scheduled for Sunday,
February 17.
