Shalane Frost just nipped Steve Taylor to take the win in the fourth Wednesday Night Race of the 2018-19 season this week. Frost had a time of 17 minutes, 41 seconds in the 5-kilometer, two-lap race. Taylor came in one second later. Series co-organizer Peter Delamere took third (17:50).

Ellie Buth won the 2.5-kilometer, one-lap race with a time of 13 minutes, 57 seconds. Mette Moeller took second (14:50) and Raena and Haven Rowland tied for third (23:42).

Warm temperatures helped boost the field to 17 skiers and made for fast skiing on the trails at Birch Hill Recreation Area. The next race is scheduled for Wednesday, February 27.

The Wednesday Night Race series, sponsored by the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks, is an all ages and all abilities series of ski races. These family-friendly events are a great way to get to know your ski club, test your skills on the trails, and have a little fun.
