Yay! The Birch Hill trails have dried out enough that they are ready for GENTLE use. There are still areas that are soft. Please try to avoid those sections. If it does rain a lot, please give the trails a few days to dry out.
Here are reports from some other area trails:
SKYLINE RIDGE PARK
Some of the trails in the Skyline Ridge Park area are ready for GENTLE use, too. The south-facing trails are in pretty good shape. The main ridge trail has some muddy areas, but the recently armored sections are also in good shape.
ESTER DOME/HAPPY VALLEY SINGLETRACK TRAILS
Please avoid these for now. They are “soupy” at the top and down in the valley.
OTHER TRAILS IN THE AREA
Generally speaking, south-facing, well-drained trails are your best bet right now. Low-lying and north-facing trails are still thawing/drying out. Go ahead and check them out, but please be willing to turn back if you are starting to do damage.
