Summer is a good time to feature the hardworking NSCF Board members who help make winters so great here in Fairbanks. This week we feature Board Vice President (and former President) Steven Hansen in his own words from a 2016 article:

I grew up in Michigan and skied occasionally as a child but started back up at zero when I moved to Fairbanks in 2009. I enjoy classic skiing and especially anything backcountry. I’ve completed the White Mountains 100, as well as many personal trips in the trails off Chena Hot Springs Road and the Alaska Range. Most of my skiing, though, is done at the Isberg and Rosie Creek Trails near my home in the Cripple Creek neighborhood. (Editor’s note: Steven and his family have since moved to the Henderson Road area on the flanks of Ester Dome.)

I enjoy working on the NSCF board to expand skiing opportunities for everyone in Fairbanks and ensuring that residents of the Interior continue having access to some of the greatest cross country skiing experiences in the country.

In my non-NSCF life I am an attorney. My wife, a Texas transplant, has learned to love winter and skiing and we look forward to teaching it to our two young daughters as they grow up.
