Have fun and help young competitive skiers by participating in the Ride and Glide.
The event brings together the skiing and fat biking community to celebrate our favorite time of year! So, grab a teammate and get ready to enjoy a fun flat course, sunshine, friends, music, food, and some great prizes!
The Ride or Glide is a two-person relay race (no you can’t do it alone). Teams will be composed of either two skiers, or one skier and one fat biker. Each teammate will complete the same flat and fun 9km loop.
Greens Bar & Grill is sponsoring the race, allowing participants to use their building, providing finger foods for the event, and opening the bar. Awards and race meeting will be on the outdoor deck.
The race has two main objectives:
- To enjoy the best skiing and biking conditions of the year and put on a fun spring race! An event that is a celebration and social gathering just as much as it is a race. A race that “non racers” are excited to participate in!
- To raise money for the Junior Nationals Scholarship Fund. Each year several youth skiers from Fairbanks qualify to represent Team Alaska at the Junior National Ski Championships. For junior skiers, making this team is the pinnacle of their season. Unfortunately, for many families the excitement of their child reaching this goal is overshadowed by the burden of the expenses that come with the trip. This year it cost $3,700 to compete for Team Alaska.
