What: Adult Cross Country Skiing Lessons
Who: Anyone ages 15 & Up. All abilities are welcome.
Where: Birch Hill Recreation Area, 101 Wilderness Drive, Fairbanks 99712
When: Classes begin week of Nov. 9th and run for five weeks. See below for full class schedule.
All classes take place at Birch Hill. Classes are one hour in length.
Cost: $100* *This does not include NSCF membership fee. Current membership in the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks is now required to participate in all NSCF-sanctioned programs. To register for Adult Lessons, you must be logged in to the website and have a current membership with the NSCF. Student rates are available for those 18 and under. Session I Class Schedule:
Novice Classic Skiing– For those who have no cross-country skiing experience or have never had any instruction to learn the basic techniques. The goal is to get participants comfortable outside and on skis. 2PM Sundays | Class begins Nov. 12th
Beginner Classic Skiing– For those who have the basic classic or skate techniques down and are comfortable on skis. This class will learn additional techniques on varied terrain so you can be more confident on any trail. 2PM Sundays | Class begins Nov. 12th & 6PM Tuesdays | Class begins Nov. 14th
Beginning Skate Skiing- For people who are comfortable with classic skiing and ready to learn a more technical form of skiing. Skiers should be comfortable skiing on all terrain (up hills, flats and downhills). 6PM Thursdays | Class begins Nov. 9th (no class on Thanksgiving Day)
Intermediate Skate Skiing– For people who have taken beginner classes or have quite a bit of experience skiing on their own. Skiers should be comfortable skiing on all terrain (up hills, flats and downhills). 6PM Wednesdays | Class begins Nov. 15th
