Adult Lessons

The NSCF adult ski lessons program provides training to both new skiers and those seeking to improve their skills. Classes meet once per week. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced instruction in both skate and classic technique are available. The program is designed for anyone ages 15 & Up. All abilities are welcome. No prior experience is necessary.

Where: Birch Hill Recreation Area, 101 Wilderness Drive & UAF Ski Trails at UAF West Ridge Campus

When:  Lessons begin Monday, February 22nd. No classes the week of March 8th. Classes end Sunday, March 28th.

Cost*: $80 for a 4-week session (1 lesson per week). *This does not include NSCF membership fee.

Novice Classic Skiing: For people who have never skied before.

2pm Sundays at Birch Hill | February 28 – March 28

 

Beginning Classic Skiing: For people with very little experience skiing. No formal training and/or only skied a handful of times.

6:15pm Tuesdays at Birch Hill | February 23 – March 23

 
Intermediate Classic Skiing: For people who have taken beginner classes or have quite a bit of experience skiing on their own. Skiers should be comfortable skiing on all terrain (up hills, flats and downhills).

6:15PM Wednesdays at Birch Hill | February 24 – March 24

 

Beginning Skate Skiing: For people with very little experience skiing. No formal training and/or only skied a handful of times. It is recommended that you take beginning classic skiing before learning to skate ski.

6:15PM Thursdays at Birch Hill | February 25 – March 25

 Intermediate Skate Skiing: For people who have taken beginner classes or have quite a bit of experience skiing on their own. Skiers should be comfortable skiing on all terrain (up hills, flats and downhills).

6:15PM Mondays at Birch Hill | February 22 – March 22

 
Advanced Skate Skiing: For skiers who are very competent and have a lot of experience skiing. These classes are intended for skiers looking to refine and improve their technique.

*New this year! Current membership in the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks is now required to participate in all NSCF-sanctioned programs. To register for Adult Lessons, you must be logged in to the website and have a current membership with the NSCF. Student rates are available for those 18 and under.
