Birch Hill Recreation Area Weather

About the NSCF Birch Hill Weather Station

Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks installed a new weather station near the start/finish area of the Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails at the Birch Hill Recreation area. Weather data has been reporting since November 6, 2017.  The station is a Davis Vantage Pro2 using Cumulus software for logging and uploading. Detailed Weather data is updated every 5 minutes.

Purple Air Monitor: There is now a Purple Air Monitor at Birch Hill. While these monitors are primarily for monitoring air quality, they do have a thermometer. Because this is a different device and in a different location at Birch Hill than the Birch Hill Weather Station, it may show a different temperature.

Web Camera: The web camera is located near the timing building and faces northeast providing a view of the Birch Hill Recreation Area stadium, finish line area, and Cross Country Ski Chalet. The network camera connects to broadcast software that streams a near real time live feed to the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks YouTube Channel. Power outages, computer issues, or network connectivity interruptions can disrupt the live feed. When this happens, the live feed may go off line. If you notice that the video isn’t live or the text link above the video doesn’t work, first try refreshing your browser. If the camera feed still doesn’t work, you can send an email to webcam@nscfairbanks.org and let us know that it needs attention.
